The Switchable Polarity LC UPC Uniboot Connector with Push-Pull Tab is a very popular connector in data centers and high-density cabling applications.
This connector represents the current state-of-the-art in fiber optic patch cord technology and is designed to address the challenges faced by data center infrastructure in terms of scalability, manageability, and operational efficiency.

Switchable Polarity
In fiber optic links, it is essential to ensure that the "transmitter (Tx)" is connected to the "receiver (Rx)," i.e., the polarity is correct. Traditional LC duplex connectors fix the polarity by adjusting the "A/B" positions at both ends of the patch cord (e.g., A/B to A/B, or A/B to B/A), and once set, it cannot be changed.
Switchable polarity design allows users to change the connector's polarity (swapping the A/B channels) at any time in the field with a simple operation (usually without tools), without replacing the connector.
How it works: Typically, the connector has a sliding or rotating mechanical structure inside. The user can flip a switch to swap the positions of the two fiber optic channels.
As shown in the video below:
Advantages:
Extremely high flexibility: No need to stock multiple types of patch cords with different polarities, simplifying inventory management. One patch cord can adapt to any polarity requirement.
Fast error correction and changes: If a polarity error is discovered during deployment or maintenance, it can be corrected instantly without replacing the patch cord, saving time and costs.
Future-proof: Adapts to changes in network architecture.
Push-Pull Tab
Easy to plug and unplug: On densely populated patch panels or switch panels, simply use your finger to hook the pull tab for easy removal, completely unaffected by adjacent ports.
Prevents accidental contact: The push-pull design avoids the risk of accidentally touching adjacent fiber optic cables.
